TN govt sanctions over Rs 1000 cr for developmental works

Tamil Nadu government today announced sanctioning over Rs 1000 crore to take up various works including establishing underground drainage system for various areas under Tirunelveli and Tuticorin Corporations.
Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announced a sum of Rs 300 crore towards setting up underground drainage system for areas coming under the expanded limits of Tuticorin Corporation.
The project will be implemented in a phased manner, she said in a statement here while announcing Rs 20 crore for laying roads to the extent of 29.74 km in Athimarapatti, Meelavittan, Muthiahpuram, Sankaraperi and Tuticorin suburban.
The Tirunelveli Corporation will take up a new project at an estimated Rs 230 crore towards augmenting the drinking water resources and related infrastructure. The tenders will be issued soon, she said.
Further, underground drainage system in areas coming under Tirunelveli Corporation, but yet to be implemented, will be done in a phased manner at a cost of Rs 490 crore, she announced.
She also allocated Rs 35.20 crore for repairing damaged roads in Tirunelveli and assured to modernise the bus stand here besides proposing multi-level parking.
