"On the happy occasion of Ugadi, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to the Telugu and Kannada speaking people in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and in other parts of the country and across the world," Rosaiah said in a Raj Bhavan statement.
"May we shed hatred and unite to further strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and dedicate ourselves to our nation's progress and prosperity," he said.
In her greetings, Jayalalithaa said Telugu and Kannada speaking people in Tamil Nadu had for long mingled as siblings with the people of the state which was a matter of 'pride.'
DMK President M Karunanidhi recalled his party-led governments efforts to ensure cordial relations with neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
BJP leader and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and TMC chief GK Vasan also extended their Ugadi greetings.
