Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko were hosted by the Governor at the Raj Bhavan here which was also attended by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
The Governor presented a commemorative stamp album coinciding with the "historic" visit.
"This commemorative stamp is being released across India today and bears the images of two abiding symbols of our two countries- The Tokyo Tower and the Qutub Minar (in Delhi)," he said.
