TN Guv Rosaiah unveils Kalam's statue in Raj Bhavan

Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah today unveiled a bronze statue of former President late A P J Abdul Kalam at the Raj Bhavan premises here and paid floral tributes.
"Governor of Tamil Nadu K Rosaiah unveiled the statue of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam at Raj Bhavan, and paid floral tributes to him in commemoration of the National Science Day," a Raj Bhavan release said.
The governor said it was a privilege to unveil Kalam's statue. He praised the missile man as a visionary, and a compassionate human being whose mission was to create a knowledge based society.
"He (Kalam) felt at home whenever he was in Raj Bhavan and it had the privilege of hosting him many a time," the release said.
The 6 feet and 2 inches high bronze statue with a bastion of 5 feet was sculpted by sculptor Kishore Nagappa. It was constructed on the directions of Rosaiah, the release said.
Apart from the new statue of Kalam, Raj Bhavan has statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel, Rajendra Prasad, S Radhakrishnan, Rajaji and Moulana Abul Kalam Azad.
Top government officials and authorities of various universities participated.
