TN Infrastructure Development Board inks pact with IIT-Madras

The Tamil Nadu Infrastructure Development Board today inked a pact with premier educational institute IIT-Madras for executive education programme for its senior government officials.
The partnership with IIT Madras is aimed at providing executive education programme on project management for large and complex projects to senior engineers, a release from IIT-Madras said.
The partnership with IIT-Madras was in line with the Vision-2023 document released by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
The document plans to provide best infrastructure services in the country in terms of universal access to housing, water and sanitation, energy, healthcare and education in the state.
The government has identified 217 significant infrastructure projects across energy, transportation, industrial and commercial infrastructure, urban infrastructure, to be implemented as part of Vision 2023 document.
As per the partnership with TNIDB, IIT-Madras would conduct executive education programme for senior engineers from state departments who are expected to manage the infrastructure projects envisioned in the state.
In the first phase, IIT-Madras would deliver education programme to 210 senior engineers which would be done in three batches of about 70 engineers attending each programme. The course for each batch would be for two days, it said.
The topics covered would be traditional project management concepts, best practices, emerging techniques and technologies for effective project management, new technologies for improved infrastructure quality and managing complex contracts, it said.
