The minister was proceeding to open the sluice gates of the Mettur dam when he saw a motorcycle rider colliding with an old man. Both were injured.
The old man sustained a fracture in the leg, police said.
The minister stopped his car and made arrangements to rush the injured to hospital in his Personal Assistant's car which was following behind.
