The 2014-15 budget presented by the AIADMK Government today came in for flak from the opposition with the principal opposition DMDK dubbing it as an exercise with an eye on elections and "selfish politics."
Party founder and Opposition Leader Vijayakant questioned the status of power generation schemes announced earlier, adding there was no word on when the power cut problems would end.
In a statement, he said that due to "wrong administration" of the ruling AIADMK, the debt burden was increasing.
CPI-M, an ally of the ruling AIADMK welcomed many proposals made in the budget including the Rs 4,000 allowance to potters during rainy season and Rs 5,300 crore towards food subsidy among others.
Party Secretary G Ramakrishnan requested that the government should also consider other demands like increased assistance to farmers of drought-affected areas, hiking support price for paddy and sugarcane among others.
