TN police bust Aadhaar card racket for Nepalis, three held

A racket involving generating Aadhaar cards for Nepalis has been busted with the arrest of three persons, police said today.
Employees of an Aadhaar enrolment agency here, R Arun (25), and M Balamurugan (26) were arrested yesterday for illegally generating the cards for Nepalis by using fake address proof papers, they said.
The duo collected about Rs 1,500 per card.
They had generated the Aadhaar cards and given it to 24-year-old Nim Bahadur Qadri and his friends, police said.
The two men, whose job also involved feeding data for issuance of cards by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), illegally took the gadgets out of their office and fed inputs including biometrics by submitting fake papers, they said.
Preliminary probe revealed that the Nepali man working in a hotel had approached them days ago for getting Aadhaar card for him and his friends since they did not possess any identity papers.

Police said based on specific leads, they arrested the two employees and the Nepali man in upscale Tiruvanimiyur here after they found gadgets used in Aadhaar generation hidden in a big bag.
The three men were produced before a court which remanded them to judicial custody today.
They have been lodged in a prison here.
