TN polls: AIADMK conducts interview of aspiring candidates

Gearing up for the polls, the ruling AIADMK today interviewed the aspiring candidates for the May 16 state assembly election in the presence of party supremo and Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
An AIADMK party statement today said aspiring candidates for the assembly polls in the three states, were interviewed in the presence of Jayalalithaa.
Jayalalithaa, in January, had invited applications from aspiring candidates for the elections in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala.
The application process began on January 20 and concluded on February 6, in which more than 26,000 applications were received.

In another statement, Jayalalithaa appointed former Rajya Sabha MP P Kannan as the party's election wing secretary in Puducherry.
"Puducherry party cadres are asked to extend their support to him (Kannan)," she said in the statement.
Kannan had joined AIADMK in the presence of Jayalalithaa in Chennai last month.
