TN sanctions Rs 95.50 cr to tackle drinking water scarcity

Days after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam reviewed the drinking water supply situation, the state government today announced it has sanctioned Rs 95.50 crore from the state Disaster Response Fund for undertaking water scarcity mitigation measures.
Ahead of the start of summer, the state has apportioned Rs 95.50 crore to 31 districts except Chennai and other state bodies, a government order dated yesterday and uploaded on the government website said.
Sinking borewells, source augmentation, pump repair works, mobile water supply through lorries, provision of water tanks, replacement of pipe lines and setting up mini power pumps and hand pumps are among the mitigation works that will be taken up.
