TN to establish Centre of Excellence on capacity building

Tamil Nadu government would establish a Centre of Excellence for capacity building for addressing the growing need of ICT skilled manpower, IT Minister N Subramanian told the state Assembly today.
The proposed Centre of Excellence was to address the needs of capacity building in the Information and Communication Technology skills and tools, he said.
"The Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to establish a Centre of Excellence for Capacity building. This centre will address the growing need of ICT skilled manpower," he said.
The centre would act as a facility to enhance the ICT skills of government employees by creating capacity building in Information Technology, he said.
State government promoted ELCOT (Electronic Corporation of Tamil Nadu) in partnership with C-DAC (Centre for Development of Advanced Computing) Chennai would set up the centre.
ELCOT would provide the IT and non-IT infrastructure for C-DAC which would create the cloud environment so that the 'technology partners' of the Centre can deploy their software products, he said.
The centre would act as a knowledge repository, to provide a sustainable environment for research and innovation, to act as a hub for knowledge sharing, transfer and dissemination and to provide training and in building capacity, he said.
