A 58-year-old senior faculty member of state-run Manonmaniam Sundaranar University here was sent on 'compulsorily retirement' Friday over allegations of sexual harassment levelled against him by a woman student, officials said.
The action against Govindaraj, a professor in the Department of Communication, was taken after an internal committee that probed into the complaint found him guilty.
Earlier, he was placed under suspension.
The decision to give 'compulsory retirement' to the professor was taken based on a recommendation by the Syndicate Committee.
The University Registrar Santhosh babu issued the retirement order to the senior faculty member, they said.
