TNSJA scholarships for sportspersons

Twelve up-and-coming sportspersons will be honoured with scholarships by Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists' Association during its annual awards function here.
Athlete R Mohan Kumar, Dhakshineswar Suresh, who won the national under-18 clay court tennis championship here recently and cueist S Shrikrishna would be among the recipients, a press note said here.
The Arise Steel-TNSJA scholarship winners for 2017-18 (Rs. 30,000 each) are: R Mohan Kumar, Sankar Muthusamy (badminton), P Baladhaneshwar (basketball), P Jeevanantham (basketball), P Iniyan (chess), K Priyanka (chess), R Adithi (football), B Jothika (rowing), Shrikrishna, S Yashini (table tennis), Preyesh Suresh Raj (table tennis) and Dhakshineswar Suresh (tennis).
The coming edition of TNSJA awards would be co-hosted by Arise Group.
Aadhav Arjuna, managing director, Arise Group, and a former basketball player, said, "We feel that world class infrastructure is required to produce future champions."
"Arise Group is planning to open a sports academy where expert/foreign coaches will strive to produce medal winners for the country. The academy will provide all-round support, right from nutritional needs to financial support, so that the athletes focus on accomplishing their goal: an Olympic medal.
