A case was registered today against a man for allegedly impersonating as a college professor and giving fake letters of Governor and Chief Secretary to district magistrate to get the services of gunner.
The accused, Amar Nath, was arrested and sent to jail today.
"Amar Nath, a resident of Shastri Nagar, met the District Magistrate and introduced himself as a retired professor of MMH College and president of Raj Bhasha Aayog," said Ashok Shisodia, SHO of Kavi Nagar police station.
He demanded a gunner under protocol by showing two recommendation letters of UP Governor and Chief Secretary, the police officer said.
However, sensing some foul play, the DM sent the letters to police for investigation, and later the police sent both the letters concerned departments for verification.
In response, the Governor's office and Secretariat said that no such letter was issued by their offices respectively. Both the letterheads and signatures on it were found to be forged.
After receiving the information today, the police lodged a case against Nath under section 420 IPC and sent him to jail.
