Renowned lyricist and chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) Prasoon Joshi today said that it becomes difficult to take decision on somebody else's work as the head of censor board.
"When you are at a certain position you have to see the work that other artistes do through a certain vantage point and you have to analyse it with the impact it will have on people," he said during a session at Sahitya AajTak here.
He said that earlier it was only his opinion that was expressed through his work, but since taking up the job of the head of censor board he has to consider the other artiste's freedom of expression too.
"Before being in censor board I was only expressing myself through my work and was only connected to my freedom of expression. Being an artiste myself it becomes difficult since I have to express my point on other artiste's works," the lyricist said.
While expressing his views on "art with responsibility", Joshi said that the creator should be aware of the impact of his work.
"When you talk about art with responsibility, you have to see the works not from the point of view of a creator but also thorough point of view of a receiver.

"We have to allow various artist to go on their personal journey. It is there personal endeavour that helps in creating beautiful art," he said.
Apart from the serious discussion on art, cinema and its responsibility, the poet-lyricist also recited verses from his own work.
He said that it was the time when he spent a year writing "Maula Maula (Arziyaan)" from Delhi 6 when he realised it was not possible without being devoted to god.
"While writing that song I was reminded of an old lady who used to sit in a dargah and was completely devoted towards god.
"It took me one year to write that song because I was in a constant thought how should I say this. You have to forget your own being and just be devoted to god to write such a song," he said.
