The district administration has banned the entry of VHP leader Pravin Togadia, who is scheduled to arrive here on February 27, in apprehension of breach of peace and order.
The entry of Togadia, who was scheduled to visit the Mahakaleshwar temple in Madhiya area of the city on Shivratri day, has been banned by the district administration, officials said.
Hindu outfits have been raising objections over the encroachment of land around a temple by members of a particular community. Last year, Yogi Adityanath was stopped at Kanpur while he was on his way here on the same day.
This year local VHP leaders and BJP MLA Ravi Sharma had invited Togadia for offering prayers in the temple, sources said.
District Magistrate Lal Bihari Pandey said that all arrangements have been made for the Shivratri festival and no one would be allowed to disturb peace and order.
"There would be no objection on locals offering 'jalabhishek' on the Shivratri, but no outsiders would be allowed to come here and disturb peace and order," he said.
