Tokyo Univ sponsors a Super 30 student for higher studies

A generator operator's son, also a student of innovative educational program Super 30, has been selected by Tokyo university for free higher education.
Abhishek Gupta, son of a generator operator, was selected for International Program on Environmental Sciences at College of Arts and Sciences, Komaba, Meguro-ku, Tokyo, a communique from Tokyo University said.
According to the letter, Gupta has been given four-year scholarship which covers admission fee, four years of tuition and monthly allowance.
University of Tokyo has secured accommodation for the students selected under Programs in English at Komaba , it said.
The university authorities had visited Super 30 last year and invited its founder mathematician Anand Kumar to Japan.
Japan's famous actress Norika Fujiwara and its NHK TV channel have featured the initiative of Super 30.

Gupta, who is preparing for IIT entrance examination in Super 30, was facilitated by Kumar for securing a place in Tokyo university.
Kumar in his speech at the function at the academy said "The kind gesture of Tokyo University will boost our confidence. Its dream that a student of a humble family background get opportunity to study abroad has been fulfilled."
Super 30 facilitates free education, fooding and lodging of 30 talented students mostly selected from underprivileged sections for making it to IIT.
In the last 13 years, 308 out of the 360 students of Super 30 have made it to the IITs.
