Talking to reporters, NCP President Madhukar Pichad said Sena-BJP had started the system of toll collection in name of development.
"I was the Leader of Opposition in Assembly and had criticised it," he said.
Pichad said toll collection is not just in Maharashtra alone.
"We can work out a alternate model. If there is a lacunae it can be rectified. The government is ready to find a permanent solution to the issue," he said.
Pichad said the politics of violence resorted to by MNS will serve no purpose except provoking people.
To a question on PWP leader Jayant Patil's allegation against Water Resources minister Sunil Tatkare, Pichad downplayed the charges saying they were a result of personal feud at district level.
"Those living in glass houses should not throw stones at others," he said.

When asked about the Kej by-election victory, Pichad said it was a good start to his second tenure as State Unit President.
"Voters rejected the Opposition for making personalised and communal campaign. The victory is a homage to Vimal Mundada who had represented the constituency for 22 years," he said.
