Toll in terrace collapse rises to two

The toll in the terrace collapse at an unoccupied school building here during demolition work, rose to two with one more person succumbing to his injuries at the government hospital, police said.
Section Superintendent in the school Sivabharathi (51) died today, they said.
Sivabharathi and three workers were trapped in the debris when the terrace of the government school building at neighbouring Thondamanatham village, caved in under impact of the demolition carried out with the help of an earthmover, yesterday.
While one worker succumbed to injuries yesterday, the other three were under treatmentin the Intensive care unit in the hospital.
Chief Minister V Narayanasamy visited the site today accompanied by some legislators of the ruling Congress and consoled the bereaved families.
Narayanasamy told newsmen later that the police have been asked to probe the incident.
Necessary action would be taken on the basis of the police report against the contractor if there was any lapsein executing thedemolition, he added.
