Launching his election campaign, reigning Tollywood star Dev today said he entered politics because there was need for youths to come forward.
"When my name was announced I was scared and switched off my phone. Then the next morning I thought, why not," the actor, a Trinamool Congress candidate, told a rally here in West Midnapore district.
"The young generation is very important. We need to come forward. I came here because I want youth power to come forward and vote. This is our country and we need to run it," Dev said.
The 31-year-old, best known for his potboilers like 'Paglu', 'Challenge' and 'Chander Pahar', would be contesting from Ghatal, his home-town.
"I have been here since my childhood. I am the son of the soil here," he said.
