Tom Hanks' third outing as Robert Langdon in 'Inferno', an adaptation of Dan Brown's thriller of the same name, is slated to release in theatres on December 18, 2015.
The film will see Harvard symbolist trying to save the world from a plague by following clues from Dante's 'The Divine Comedy'.
The 57-year-old actor had previously starred in Brown's other two movie adaptation of the series, "Angels & Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code", reported Hollywood Reporter.
Ron Howard, who directed both films, is attached to direct with David Koepp penning the adaptation.
Sony Pictures, which holds the film rights to the novels, is also developing 'The Lost Symbol' but it seems that 'Inferno', the fourth in Langdon series, will release first.
