Left-handed opener Abhishek Kaushik struck a century on List A debut while off-break bowler Arnab Nandy grabbed five for 46 as Railways beat Uttar Pradesh by 39 runs in a Central Zone leg match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, here today.
Batting first, Kaushik's 100 off 118 balls with 10 fours helped Railways reach 255 for nine and they then bowled out UP for 219 in 47.4 overs.
During Railways innings, Kaushik was ably supported by Arindam Ghosh (28) in a 88-run second wicket stand and skipper Mahesh Rawat (46) in a 87-run third wicket stand.
For UP, left-arm pacer RP Singh grabbed 4/50 while Praveen Kumar was hammered one for 61 in 10 overs.
When UP batted, only Umang Sharma (59) made a good contribution as some of the top-order batsmen got out after getting set.
Bengal discard Nandi bowled some cleverly flighted deliveries as most of the UP batsmen were dismissed trying to hit him out of the ground.
