"I am as comfortable with television as with films. But the pressure on you while making a serial is much more," Kasarvalli told PTI on the sidelines of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2012 here.
The filmmaker, who has more than 11 films under his belt, some of which have won national awards, said television shows are all about TRP and money.
There is an artistic pressure to produce a film, he said, adding, "but for TV serials there is a pressure from channel or marketing agent. That's a kind of pressure that I don't want to succumb to," he said.
During an interaction with the media at IFFI, Kasarvalli defended the ceiling put on the number of Bollywood films to be screened in theatres in Karnataka.
"Some distributors buy rights of Bollywood movies paying crores of rupees. If that film flops then he does not buy any more Kannada film till he recovers the loss," the director said.
He also claimed that a Kannada filmmaker faces multifaceted problems as he has to compete with Tamil and Telugu film industry along with Bollywood.
