"The government has taken historical decisions for ensuring women safety and their empowerment... Started schemes for their education, economic independence and health concerns and they are now showing results but a lot still remains to be done," Yadav said at a programme here.
He listed out various schemes launched by his government for women's welfare, including 'Women Power line', a 24-hour helpline - 1090 that aims to assist women in distress.
The Chief Minister stressed that equality and empowerment of women should start from the family itself but rued that it was not being done.
