Gadchiroli Range Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Range Ravindra Kadam paid a visit to the residence of hardcore Maoist leader Dalsu alias Mainu, alias Jogi Pusu Gawde, at Bolepalli village and met his aged parents to convince him to surrender.
The DIG told the parents and other family members about the government's surrender scheme and also the police department's 'Navjeevan Project', according to a press release issued by the police.
He appealed to the family members to convince Dalsu to surrender before the police in order to join the mainstream of society.
The DIG assured the parents of the Maoist that the police would give him a good treatment. Kadam also enquired about the family members' financial position and other detailed information.
When Kadam asked the Maoist leader's father whether they wish to meet him or not, his father broke down and said that "about 20 years ago, our son left us and joined the Maoist movement. We feel that he should live with us at least in our old age," he said.
Kadam presented sarees, dhotis, caps and dupattas to Dalsu's parents. Dalsu's old friends and others, who were present on the occasion, promised the DIG that his message would be conveyed to Dalsu, the release said.
