Doctors from Medicity, Medanta, in Gurgaon, and from Jammu and Kashmir, including neurologist Sushil Razdan, will be a part of the mega health camp, Vishwa Kashmiri Pandit Samiti (VKPS) head Kiran Watal told reporters here.
The Jagti township is one of the biggest neighbourhoods of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits. It is located on the outskirts of Jammu winter capital city and houses more than 12,000 people.
"Seventeen top doctors from J&K and the rest of the country will conduct health check-up of the displaced KPs during the two-day health camp on Dec 16 and 17," Watal said.
The trauma of forced exodus and the exposure to an alien environment are compounded by the problems of acclimatisation. A lack of basic healthcare facilities have affected Kashmiri Pandits in camps with various diseases. Most of these have led to many psychological and behavioural disturbances in them.
The VKPS, Global Solace - an international NGO, Shri Amarnath Yatra Welfare Society are jointly organising the health camp.
