"TV has not progressed as much as I had thought of. Though there are couple of shows that are different, yet the top mass entertainer shows are the typical daily soaps. Unfortunately, TV has not moved much ahead in terms of content," Barkha told PTI.
Actor Anil Kapoor's '24' and megastar Amitabh Bachchan's upcoming TV show 'Yudh' should be offered to the audience, she feels.
"I don't know how much good the show '24' has done in terms of TRP. I liked the show. I feel different kind of shows should be provided to the audience. Presently, the mindset of audience is blocked with certain shows. There should be a departure from regular shows," she said.
"I was offered shows on TV but I couldn't relate to those shows. I want to get back to TV but for me the story, role has to be different, it shouldn't be stereotypical. I am not sure, if I would get something different to do I might end doing some TV show," said the actress.
She would be seen in a TV show soon but is not keen on sharing details about it.
"I should be doing a TV show, to some extent it is different. I can't talk more about it," she said.
Recently, she appeared on crime series 'Encounter' where she was seen as a gangster.
"It was a different and interesting role, something we haven't seen any actress doing on TV, so I did it. The role was different from what TV actresses usually do," she added.
Barkha thinks crime shows being aired on TV are a good change for viewers from the regular soaps.
