Top runners for 'Kolkata 25 KM' marathon

Leading long distance runners of the country, men's and women's, will vie for honours at the inaugural 'Kolkata 25 Kilometre, a new event in the calender of long distance running of the country, on December 28.
Leading the fray in women's category will be former Asian Games Gold medallist and 2014 half marathon winner Sudha Singh, three times Mumbai marathon winner Lalita Babbar and the current national record holder for 10 km road running.
The men's category would be dominated by half marathon specialist of the country Soji Mathew from Kerala, 10,000 metre gold medalist in All India Inter-Univrsity Championship Kheta Ram, and the winner of 10,000 metre event in National Games Sanvroo Yadav.
Besides the 25 km run main event, the championship would also include a 10 km open for the amateurs, 6 km Fun Run and 4km run for senior citizens and persons with disability.
The 'Tata Steel Kolkata 25 Kilometre' is also being held to raise fund for charity.
Hugh Jones, the Director of race organised by Procam International told mediapersons the event will a total prize money of over Rs 21 lakh will see in action over 30 top Indian athletes.
