Top junior shuttlers, including Maisnam Meiraba, will vie for top honours when the 28th Smt. Krishna Khaitan Memorial All India Junior Ranking badminton tournament begins at the Tau Devi Lal Sports Complex here on Tuesday.
More than 800 entries have been received for the Rs 4 lakh tournament, which will conclude on August 18.
All eyes will be on Meiraba, who had won the Russian Junior White Nights tournament and is one of the best performing juniors in the country.
Performance in this tournament will be considered for the selection of the Indian team to participate in international events and upcoming World Championship in Russia.
While Meiraba is the top seed, second seed Sathish Kumar K and third seed Sai Charan Koya will also be part of the men's singles draw which has 16 seeded players.
In women's singles, Unnati Bisht, Amolika Singh and Mansi Singh are the top three seeds.
Organised by the Haryana Badminton Association, the tournament will have former India coach U Vimal Kumar as the chief guest on the qualifying days.
