Top national players, representing different teams, will be seen in action in the 54th All India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy, beginning here on September nine.
Eight leading teams-Indian Army (Delhi), who finished runner-up in 2017, Indian Bank (Chennai), Indian Railways, Income Tax (Chennai), Vijaya Bank (Bengaluru), Customs (Kochi), ICF (Chennai) and IAF (Delhi)- will be vying for honours in the five-day tournament.
Defending champion Indian Overseas Bank is not participating in the tournament to be held at PSG Tech Indoor Complex with wooden flooring, PSG Institutions Managing Trustee, L Gopalakrishnan, the organisers, told reporters today.
The matches will be played on league basis till September 11 and semi-finals and finals will be held on September 12 and 13 respectively, he said.
The winners will get Rs one lakh, the runner-up Rs 50,000 while the best player will receive Rs 10,000.
