More than 20 workshops in the city of Jiangmen were destroyed by the tornado, which wreaked havoc following massive rainfalls, local administration said.
Rainfall in the province exceeded 100 mm at 84 weather monitoring stations, with average precipitation up to 17.2 mm between 8 AM yesterday and 8 AM today, according to the provincial weather monitoring department.
The cities of Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Huizhou, Shenzhen and Dongguan were hit hardest by the rain, Xinhua reported.
Local weather forecasters said the heavy rains will continue from today to tomorrow, with lightning and gales up to 70 km per hour. PTI KJV KAS AKJ
