Torrential rain coupled with storm has wreaked havoc in China, forcing thousands of people to relocate and causing heavy economic losses.
Heavy rainfall coupled with storm lashed east China's Jiangxi Province on Wednesday, triggering flood in several areas in the provincial capital Nanchang.
Several trains were cancelled yesterday as tracks were flooded across Jiangxi.
The storm left 1,800 people in need of relocation in the province while an elderly woman drowned when she tried to cross a bridge in the city of Jiujiangm, media reports said.
In central China's Hubei Province, the rain forced 2,813 people to be evacuated and damaged more than 26,000 hectares of crops, resulting in direct economic losses of more than 400 million yuan (USD 61 million).
A section of the Yichang-Wanzhou railway was damaged by flooding which led to cancellation of 39 trains.
Weathermen have warned people to expect more storms throughout the month.
