Pakistan, Afghanistan, Thailand will be among the other countries participating in the 'Destination Himachal- Shimla Mega Mart' tourism event, Dhyan Chand, chairman of Himachal PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), one of the organisers, said.
The event, which is scheduled to be inaugurated by Chief Minister P K Dhumal, will exhibit handicrafts, jewellery, marble products and traditional items, he said.
It would offer an opportunity to countries of the South Asian region to showcase their potential, he said.
"It is the Chamber's second such endeavour at Shimla after 2009, aimed at boosting trade with the participating countries, exploring investment opportunities and promoting Himachal tourism," he said.
The contingent of Pakistan will comprise 32 members, Khurshid Balras, Convener of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Pakistan, said.
"The event is specially relevant in the context of India and Pakistan," he added.
Director Tourism and Civil Aviation Arun Sharma said tourism industry in the state had been accorded high priority and various initiatives were being undertaken for this.
