Tourists from Karnataka safe in Nepal

A nine-member group of tourists from different parts of Dakshina Kannada District in Karnataka, on a visit to Pokhara in Nepal, is safe after the massive earthquake that shook the region.

The travel agency here which had arranged the trip today said that it had received a call from the guide accompanying the nine tourists informing that they were safe.

The tourists would be reaching New Delhi within two days, Vathika Pai, representing the agency, said.

The group had left for Nepal from Mangaluru a few days ago on the trip arranged by Nirmala travels. The agency said the tourists were on their way back to Nagarkot.

Pokhara is about 80 km from the epicentre of the earthquake which rocked Nepal yesterday. The tourists had already left for Nagarkot near Kathmandu by road, the agency said.
