The Gujarat government closed all the 30 gates of the dam, raising the water level of the reservoir to 138.68 metres from 121.92 meters on June 18.
It was done after the permission from the Narmada Control Authority (NCA) in this regard, said an official of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited (SSNL).
"From now onwards, there will be no overflowing of the dam because of the closing of 30 gates," the official told PTI.
