Town Planning officer nabbed taking bribe

An official at the Assistant Director of Town Planning office was arrested here while allegedly accepting bribe today, Anti-Corruption Bureau officials said.
Assistant Town Planner Pandurang Baburao Shelke (52), had demanded a bribe of Rs 70,000 from the complainant for issuing the final layout plan of his plot in Murbad area and the complainant had already paid Rs 40,000 as first instalment of the bribe, Additional SP, ACB Thane unit Srinivas Ghadge said.
Shelke, a class-II officer, later demanded more Rs 10,000, following which the complainant lodged a complaint with the ACB and a trap was laid at the office this afternoon, he said.

A case has been registered against the officer under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
