The toxic element was found in two out of nine samples of drinking water taken by Health Department from hand pumps of Basant Nagar village, the report stated.
Tests on the samples by State Public Health Laboratory Punjab, Chandigarh recently found that the water was "unfit for drinking" due to presence of arsenic in it and excessive quantity of fluoride, it said.
The report, along with other facts, were sent to Kapurthala Deputy Commissioner by local Sub Divisional Magistrate, they said.
Congress leader and former Punjab minister Joginder Singh Mann released a copy of the report to media here today and said he will meet the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday to pursue the matter.
The DC was also urged to ask Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) to probe the source of contamination of water.
