Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Thursday posted 4 per cent increase in total sales at 13,678 units in September.
The company had sold a total of 13,167 units in the same month last year, TKM said in a statement.
Domestic sales rose 2 per cent at 12,335 units in September as against 12,067 units in the same month last year.
TKM exported 1,343 units of the Etios series during this month as compared to 1,100 units in the same month last year, a rise of 22 per cent.
TKM Director and Senior Vice-President — Sales and Marketing N Raja said: "We are happy that our customer demand had minimum impact of the cess hike and the festive season has ushered in a positive growth in the domestic sales."
Despite the spike in customer demand, the company had to close the month early by September 28, leading to lesser number of production days, he added.

Raja said that in order to perk up the festive cheer, the company has introduced Etios Cross X-Edition and Fortuner TRD Sportivo with added features.
With the demand on the rise, the current waiting period for Innova has gone up to around 6-8 weeks and Fortuner is around 10-12 weeks, he added.
"With no further change in price of Camry Hybrid post cess hike, we hope that the customer demand will improve in the upcoming months," Raja noted.
