A six member Congress delegation led by Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Sudip Roy Burman and Leader of the Opposition Ratan Lal Nath met the Governor.
"Congress has long been demanding in the state assembly cancellation of Das' SC certificate. The government appointed a committee to investigate the allegation but it took it more than four years to complete it," Nath told reporters.
Nath said the delegation was assured by the governor of action as the matter was serious.
The certificate of Das who represents Salgara assembly constituency in Gomati district was cancelled on July 31 by the State Level Schedule Caste Scrutiny Committee after a series of hearings.
Ruling CPI-M state secretary Bijon Dhar said, "The state government is transparent and that is why SLSCC has given its finding that the certificate was forged despite knowing that he is an MLA from the ruling party. Legal action can be taken by court."
Earlier, Chief Minister Sarkar said the government would accept the recommendations of the SLSCC.
