Track renewal work completed in record time

Using modern machinery, a 2.5 km long railway track in Salem-Jolarpet section near Samalpatti Railway station was renewed in a record time of four days.
Had the works been done manually, it would have taken a minimum of two months, resulting in heavy labour cost and disruption of train services for a longer time, a release from Salem Division of Southern Railway said today.
Modern track replacement machine called TRT (Track Renewal Train) machine was used in replacement of this track at the rate of 300 meters per hour.
