Tractor crushes school girl in Malda, driver beaten to death

A man was beaten to death by a mob in Malda district after a school girl was crushed under the wheels of his tractor today, police said.
The incident happened at Mothabari Tulshiramtola area in the afternoon, a police officer said.
Locals chased the tractor, stopped it and beat the tractor's driver to death, the officer said.
Locals also staged a road blockade.
The police had to resort to mild lathicharge and fire teargass shells to disperse the violent mob, police sources said.
The situation was brought under control immediately, Malda District Magistrate (DM) Koushik Bhattacherjee said.
The victims were yet to be identified till last reports came in.
