Trade Union to increase membership to 10 lakhs in five yrs

As part of its "Mission 2020", Tamil Nadu Congress Trade Union (TCTU) has decided to increase the membership to 10 lakh in the next five years from the present 55,000.
A resolution to this effect was adopted at the high power committee meeting of TCTU, affiliated to INTUC, held recently at Chennai, N Nanjappan, President of TCTU told PTI.
The meeting also decided to support the state-wide demonstration organised by Tamil Nadu Congress Committee on November 10 to protest against the present NDA government ignoring UPA Government's flagship scheme of MGREGA, he said.
Another resolution decided to hold debate and essay competitions at schools on former Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru on his 125 birth anniversary on November 14, Nanjappan who is also in-charge of Coimbatore Zone of TCTU, said.
The next meeting of the high power commitee would be held at Kanyakumari on November 30, he said, adding, the first meeting of Coimbatore Zone is scheduled on October 31, here.
