Shashi Pandey (45), owner of fertiliser and seed shop was about to enter his home after closing his shop late in the evening when the miscreants fired at him, said Superintendent of Police, Ashwini Kumar Sinha said.
The SP, who reached the spot soon after the incident, said seriously injured Pandey was referred to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi by local doctors, but he succumbed to his injuries.
A hunt was on to track down the culprits, the SP added.
