Members of a traders' body today protested outside Chief Parliamentary Secretary and BJP leader Krishna Dev Bhandari's residence against property tax and other levies by the Punjab government.
Under the banner of Industrial and Traders Action Committee, several businessmen protested outside Bhandari's house, claiming that the state government's policies were detrimental to their businesses.
"Every time, the government gives assurance but later goes back on its promise. Bhandari informed the higher authorities about our grievances but the result is the same," the Committee's leaders Ravinder Dheer and Gurusharan Singh said.
They alleged that the government was not in favour of allowing small businesses to prosper and that's why their demands were going unheard.
The political leaders also said SAD and its alliance partner BJP are equally to blame for their plight.
