Traders demand restoration of Internet services in Jammu

As mobile Internet services remain suspended for the 12th consecutive day here, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Jammu (CCIJ) today demanded immediate restoration of the service.
"The Internet services should be restored without any further delay, otherwise the chamber will be forced to take appropriate action," CCIJ President, Rakesh Gupta said after convening an meeting in view of the snapping of Internet services in Jammu.
He said the suspension of the Internet services has affected badly the business fraternity of the region.
The traders sent a memo through fax to Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu requesting an extension in the date for filing of VAT returns and extension in the date for depositing of VAT tax at least by three months.
Fearing law and order problem, the authorities had snapped mobile Internet services in Jammu region after the Killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani in the Kashmir Valley on July 8.
While the Valley has been on the edge after his killing and the clashes between security forces and portestors claiming 42 lives, Jammu remained peaceful in these 12 days.
Meanwhile, officials said no decision has been taken over the restoration of services.
