Traders lay near siege of police sation in Valparai
Press Trust of India Coimbatore A group of traders, affiliated to more than 20 associations, today laid near siege of police station in Valparai in the district for not taking action against those who had allegedly removed the black flags hoisted atop their shops a couple of days ago.
Almost all the traders in Valparai had closed their shops and hoisted black flags on their shops on October 21, to protest against the failure of the government in promoting tourism activities, among other things, in the area.
The traders today gathered in front of the police station and sought immediate action against those, who had threatened and removed the black flags, police said.
They dispersed after assurance from the senior police officials to look into the matter, police added.
