The conversation between the driver and accused constable Rajbir was video recorded by the team and further investigations are underway, police said.
Recently, the Vigilance Branch has constituted special surveillance teams to keep an eye on any act of corruption by Delhi Police personnel and have been conducting surprise checks at various cross-point of the city.
"One such Special Surveillance Team during surveillance of traffic police staff, caught a constable who accepted Rs 200 as bribe from a Maruti Van driver to let him go without a challan," a senior police official said.
"After passing the traffic checking point, the vigilance team took position to interact with the drivers of the vehicles. The Maruti van driver told that traffic police staff has taken Rs 200 from him and issued no Challan," police said.

On examination, the driver stated that the accused traffic constable signalled him to stop the vehicle and asked him to show documents. The constable later charged the vehicle of carrying passengers over limit.
However, the constable denied making any such demand and said that the driver offered the amount.
"The conversation of the driver and constable Rajbir was recorded in the video camera. On the statement of the driver of Maruti Van, a case under section 7/13(1) (d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 has been registered and investigation is on," the official said.
