A 48-year-old traffic constable sustained injury on the head after he and his colleague were beaten up by a duo, suspected to be in an inebriated state, whose car they had flagged down in outer Delhi's Rohini sub-city, police said today.
Traffic constables Satyabir and Hotelal were on night patrolling duty when the incident took place near Rithala Metro station at around 12.15 am yesterday, said a senior police officer.
The accused identified as Hemant, son of a Delhi Police official, and his friend Nitin, were driving their Swift Dzire car on the wrong side of the road for which they were stopped by the Traffic constables.
When the officials confronted them, the duo started verbally abusing them which soon turned into a scuffle during which one of the accused bit Hotelal's finger and the other hit Satyabir on his head with a helmet.
They fled the scene before the officials could respond to the situation. However, they were identified with the help of registration number of the car.
