Heavy traffic situation is likely to be witnessed in all approach roads heading towards popular markets in the city that include Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and Karol Bagh. Traffic snarls are also expected at Old Delhi roads around areas like Chandni Chowk, Chauri Bazar and Dariya Ganj, a traffic police official said.
In the past few days, congestion were reported on the Ring Road stretch in south Delhi, which is used as a route to several markets that include Lajpat Nagar, Sarojini Nagar and South Extension. Heavy traffic is also likely to be witnessed on the Ring Road stretch near Rajouri Garden, another popular shoppers' hub , said the official.
Commuters who have to pass through ITO junction, Mathura Road and Ashram Chowk may also get stuck in traffic for long hours, and these stretches and junctions better be avoided during the festival time, the official said.
To ensure smooth flow of traffic, additional force will be deployed and the 24-hour helpline has been asked to remain more alert, so that officials can be deployed at specific spots depending upon complaints received, for a real-time solution to traffic woes, he said.
