Train services, highway traffic resume after day-long

Railway services between Jammu and Kathua stations and vehicular traffic on Jammu-Pathankote national highway resumed this evening after the conclusion of the fierce gun-battle killing all three militants.
Soon after the news of the terror attacks reached this morning, the authorities stopped traffic on the highway and train services, officials said.
While Jammu- and Udhampur-bound trains were stopped at Pathankote and Kathua areas, trains leaving Jammu were stopped at Bari Brahmana and Jammu.
Similarly, multiple check points were activated and vehicular traffic was suspended on the highway, they said, adding vehicles were stopped at various check points and not allowed to move from Samba to Pathankote.
The gun-battle took place at Janglote area which lies railway tracks and the highway, which is nearly 100-km from Jammu and 12 km from the International Border (IB).
After the conclusion of the encounter around 6.30 PM train services and vehicular traffic were resumed, they said.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people thronged the highway to protest against the terror attacks.
Hundreds of youths converged on Jammu-Pathankote highway at Kathua, Hiranagar, Samba and Dayalachak areas and held anti-Pakistan protests braving heavy rains.
Security personnel had a tough time to control them as over 2,000 to 3,000 youths marched to the venue of encounter in Janglote area.
Throughout the day, top leaders of various political parties, including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Congress minister Manohar Lal Sharma and BJP candidate from Udhampur Lok Sabha seat Jatinder Singh visited the site and condemned the attacks.
